So I've decided to try my first full sand blasted blade for a customer. I'm using G10, and from what I've seen here in the past, G10 looks pretty sick sand blasted. My question is, what grit should I sand the scales to before I blast? I took the blade to 400 so that should be good to go. I figure blasting G10 will probably take some material off so, going too fine wouldn't really be needed, but I'll leave that up to someone with experience with this.

I'm guessing so? I have done one blasted blade but, was pre handle. So the spine had to be sanded down with the scales. Where most knives I've seen that were labeled "sand blasted" had that bead look all through the spine and choil.

220 on the G10. Both the blade and handle get pretty rough. I would use a tumbler or something to smooth out the blade so it's easier to wipe off. I did some black G10 and it turned grey.
