Hand Shaped or Machine Grooved?

I like machine grooved. It has crock skin look and reminds me every time the first Busse knife i see and liked (FSH).

But I must agree that hand shaped handle do feel great in hand, less aggressive. Then, I always hv a tiny doubt if hand shaped handle are more slippery.

Before we ever did any machine shaped handles we got around that problem by lightly (LIGHTLY!) sandblasting the handle slabs. You don`t want to change thw shaape, but if you blast out the resin between the threads in the canvas you wind up with a very fine checked pattern that has a little more grip.

Hand shaped all the way. Feels great, the shaping really helps improve an otherwise smooth handle...

Oh, is that why they look that way ? I was wondering why they look so raw.

Machined was easy choice for me this time, since it was so much cheaper. Hard to resist. And since the LEs come with hand shaped scales, one can get to try both buying one CG and one LE. :D

I went with shaped on this one. The machined on my skinny ASH aren't the most comfortable, and for a chopper I wanted something comfy.

Would hand shaped in the G-10 be much more slippery vs. hand shaped in Micarta...because Micarta is grippier to begin with?

Do more people prefer their G-10 grooved vs hand shaped??

.

I got machined on all of mine, since the profile is the same on both, there is enough material on the magnums that I can hand shape them myself and save $60!!! Or I'll re-handle them with a different micarta like green or black linen.

Likewise. Definitely worth the amazing value and pocketing 60 for what the machined CG's are going for.

I actually like the machine grooved magnums with the huge palm swell the best. The first time I held my CG FBM I didn't like it, but after some use I really love it. Same goes for my ASH-1 and its machine grooved magnums. Even if there was no price difference, I still would have ordered that way. YMMV

well, the hand mags on the NMFBM was really sweeeeet! but i do want to test the machine made mags on this one, as gimmejr said; ''you can always hand shape it yourself later.''

so black blade and blk/tan mags for me if the paycheck is good!

Hmmmmm

Hand Shaped cause I have really long fingers and it felt "Just Right"

Daddy always told me to look out for women with long fingers...never knew what he meant. I guess it means they can carry a bigger knife! :D

Oh, and Machined Micarta....I love the feel of Micarta over G10, and I like the feel of the machined mag micarta on my Hellrazor so much I had to go with that. Price was a big selling point also. And, it is thick enough to adjust to taste. I got Sage and black Mag, just like my NMFBM...I think they will make a pretty pair.
