Handle Advice

Hello All,

I am new here and to the fine art of blade smiting so I need all the advice I can muster
Recently I acquired a blade ( I am aware that is a sacrilege however it is a fine piece of steel) and I am planning on doing a leather handle on it. What would you, experts, do? What would be the best style of this? I hope the image on twitter shows.

The tang is wrong for leather washers. It should have parallel edges. You'll not get this

The gap appears to be for a brass bolster. If I'm correct, it'll need 5 holes, 2 small rivets for the bolster, 2 large rivets for the wood or micarta scales, & it already has a lanyard hole.

Like my dad always taught me, if you don't know, ask someone who does.

Pity an actual smith here couldn't advise on the technicalities of the brass bolster. Should/could it be a guard with extended quillions?
