Handle material preferences

I understand that the G-10 is slightly more slick than the Canvas Micarta is that true ? , i've never handled G-10

i like neoprene or rubber handles. wood might look nice but i go for the best grip possible.

Whatever the micarta is on my Al Mar Eagle Talon, I like it.

I also like Delrin of any sort, almost any traditional handle material, and Gerber's "gatorgrip" or whatever they call it stuff.

Natural materials. Wood, stag, mammoth ivory or bone.

I do like the occasional micarta handle as well.

Kind regards,

Jos

Best so far is stacked birch bark.

Thanks, Vassili.

P.S. For folders I prefer Ti+G10 (or Ti+CF)

Petrified walrus penis bone.

They have no idea about this material here in US and think that this is a joke. Can you post picture of knife with this handle? I know Kulikov using it and may be Guild of Bladesmith.

Thanks, Vassili.

I very much liie micarta for some knived, and the majority, I prefer wooden handle material. ILOVE Ironwood, and some many beatuful burl woods.

canvas micarta
linen micarta if it shows a grain

Well I was being somewhat flippant, but serious at the same time.

Not a bad looking knife though eh. Perhaps not something for every day use.

All of these handles look very nice also...

Perhaps a piece of staghorn if I ever find one myself, out walking in the woods. Perhaps a nice piece of wood until then. Walrus, not too many of those left around here. The Maritimes used to be full of them up until 500 years or so ago. If I ever spend some time up North, then perhaps. They don't have to be fossilized like the one above. I think the essential thing is that if it's a special material it should have a good story to go with it, and be meaningful to the owner in some way. Just my opinion.

Would one of the Grohmann kits be recommended?
I was thinking of the Trout & Bird Kit, non-stainless high carbon steel, flat ground.

Also curious if it's bad luck to change the handle if you come across a better handle material for a favourite knife.
Any such superstitions regarding modifying knives after they've already been in use?
