Handle material preferences

i put some corion on a knife i made but took it off. the stuff is ok for display but not for use. its slick when wet. if its used as a small spacer with wood it wouldnt be so bad though.

My first preference is a beautifully figured wood like rosewood, cocobolo or some sort of burl, then stag, then stacked leather. I'm not a big fan of artificial handle materials.

Textured G-10 or canvas Micarta are the most useful for me. I love the look of nice burl wood, stag, and jigged bone, but not on a user knife. Of course, they should all be users......

Linen micarta is nice, as some of the previous posters have noted. A nicely finished hard wood also is high up on my list. Finally, as an alternative handle material I've found I like the grippy feel of kraton.

linen mircata - roughed up a tough with course sand paper
textured G10 - I like the neon-coloured ones for visibility

stabilized wood - different types - I like their looks but feel less inclined to use these hard than the resin-based ones

I really like G10 and Micarta for synthetics. I love stacked leather and stag as well.

I don't care much about looks, only ergonomics and grip. I find G-10 the best for both but it has to be well figured, e.g. the ZT 0100 is extremely grippy while I find Busse's G-10 a bit slippery.

Soooo Many to choose from! Right now I'm on a "Bamboo" trip. I curently have three Barkies in Bamboo. One is in aged Bamboo. Very pleased with all. M
