Has anyone used corian as a handle material, and how do you get the scratches out of white ?

Yes. I've hand sanded up to 1000 grit then use a buffing wheel LIGHTLY. But the stuff scratches very easy so now I just use it for small spacers. Moon.

Thanks moon, do you know if it holds up well against the elements? I've been told it doesn't against heat and cold?

I've used Corian for a few knife handles, and it is fairly shock resistant and durable. It also works very well and is very consistent. It does scratch up pretty easily, but have never had it get damaged by heat - even when I was cutting/sanding it. It also gets brittle if it gets extremely cold - although I've never stress tested it for that.

Overall - I don't like the look of Corian too much. Some haters call it "Mother of Toilet Seat" - and while it is funny, it is also somewhat accurate...

I've never used Corian for knife handles, but I've made a few other things out of it. My experience was also that it will scratch fairly easily, edges and corners can chip if bumped against something hard, and whether it was satin or polished there was still something "plasticky-looking" about the material. I never heard the "mother of toilet seat" line before but yeah...it kinda fits.
