Handle modifications for extreme conditions

Thank you, Ray. I have to second what Uncle Bill said -- we have a great bunch of guys on this forum.
Twisting of the handle isn't a problem for me unless the khuk has a smaller-diameter handle than usual or if I'm doing some prolonged chopping (my hand fatiques rather quickly when gripping full-strength).
I'm presently experimenting with some of the things you suggested, and when I determine the best grip shape I'd like to get in touch with you. However, for the time being, I'm going to wait and see what happens with Uncle Bill's proposed handle design. If the design gets a green light, I think I'll be in great shape.
Again, thank you, Ray. I'm truly touched by your generosity.

Steven, in regards to oversize handles, the Salyan's Bill had made awhile ago are pretty much the defination of this.

I wear gloves all the time, for motorcycle use. Bill, I think you saw the heavy monsters. I've tried swinging my 21" through full-power arcs with the gloves on and it feels fine, the Khukuri pommel shape is so cool for controlling a heavy blade.

I just came back from a visit to my home town - there, I showed my Village Chainpuri to few old friends - they like it very much (but it is too expensive for them - cost them nearly 3 months income) - I discussed this handle problems with them & they suggested to either wore a glove OR do a regular work out with your Khuks till soft skin of your palms and fingers HARDENED!!!

Will, the BM is far too light for that, it reaches maximum functional penetration (binding) with little effort and there is not much to gain by pushing harder. Generally I will only use a forearm based chop with it, switching to swinging from my shoulder if I get excessively tired or the wood is full of knots and I want a wider swing so as to generate more speed.

It is fairly amusing to note the extremly skewed sense of proportion that is very common in this forum. Outside of here the BM would not be regarded as a "smaller knife" . However compared to some of the khukuris that HI offers, just about anything is.

You're right, Cliff. I'd never really thought about it before, but it really is funny when you stop to think about it. I guess it just goes to show that just about everything is relative.
