heres a handle with a full tang and wood handle that seems to be 2 slabs of wood held on to the full tang with 2 large "rivets" just wondering if anyone knows about this type of handle since I never seen it before. I usually see a 1 piece handle with a hole for the tang but never slabs of wood on a full tang handle. Blade is unmarked and I think its from india. 11.5" blade 5" handle

Panna Butta is the HI term for "rivetted through". Chiruwa means something similar. Both describe a flattened fully exposed on the edges tang and slab handles. The other kind of tang is sometimes erroneously called a rat tail tand. That's the way it's shaped to be sure, but the HI tang is thicker, wider, and far stronger than the rat tail.

It's generally accepted the exposed tang allows more shock to reach the hand, while the enclosed tang insulates from vibration. Others insist that if you use the sweet spot the vibration is negligible. As for strength, either tang should go a hundred years easily.

one in your pic. I paid twelve bucks for it and rue the day I wasted my cash on it. Super soft steel whose edge would fold over whenever striking anything harder than cardboard. It rusted at any hint of moisture and the handle split on me. I ended up getting a 15" Ang Khola. I still have that indian POS in my garage somewhere. I don't want to have any other unfortunate get ahold of it. Maybe if they have a weapons buyback I can trade it in for Sharks tickets or something.

Naw, use for digging dandelions out of your lawn. You sure don't care if you hit a rock.
Of course, if your lawn is growing in the infamous 'Campbell clay', even an HI khuk wouldn't help you. Been there.

yea I paid like $15 for this one. I know its cheap thats why I bought it out of curiosity and also I got it long before I was a member here in BF and never know about HI so wasnt my fault hehe. Still waiting for some extra income for my first HI. I actually used this knife playing around in the back yard chopping old tree stumps and already notice the handle slabs getting loose and also the blade gets dull quickly from soft steel but you get what ya paid for right guys:)
