Does anyone know what the new in the box durabilty of G-10 and FRN scales is? In other words, do the synthetic scales degrade over time like how fiberglass eventually will crumble into dust. Or do the resin/carbon fiber type scales generally last forever without degrading assuming you kept them in the box the whole time?

I have had FRN type scales on Cold Steel knives for over 20 years and they are as good as new. I've had G10 on Benchmade knives for 10-15 years and they too are fine. I have read that Syperco orders a superior grade of G10 for some of their knives.

I worry more about my own durability than that of my knives.

these knives will pretty much last forever as long as you dont abuse them.

I know some LEO buddies that have been carrying their Enduras (the original plastic clip ones) daily for at least 15 years. Two have the clips broken off and have new metal clips threaded in with screws that have lasted the last 5 years. I know because I did them.

Fiberglass reinforced nylon is non degradable , it will NEVER crumble over time. Very advanced material used on an everyday basis.

Your knives will easily outlive you unless you bung them up somehow.
