Do any of you use a dremel to make your scales? If so what is a decent dremel to start with that will last? I just orderes some micarta and g10 for a few knives of mine and now all i need is a dremel tool. I am not surw whT features i will need. Any advice?

If you are talking about "shaping" the scales after they are fastened to the knife, then a couple of files and some sandpaper would be infinitely faster then a dremel

shaping g-10 or micarta with a dremel would be like hunting a grizzly bear with a switch ;0)

If you do buy a dremel. I would invest in one with a cord. Or a battery operated one and atleast 4 battery's.

There are easier ways to do it but if you are set on a dremel i would just head to walmart or lowes. Should cost 50-60 USD depending on what bits and attachments you buy with it.

I use a dremel for certain things while handle shaping. I use it yo create a cavity on the underside of the scale, so the epoxy can fill the void. I have used them to sand a small inside radius as well. It wouldn't make sense to shape an entire scale with one.

A dremel comes in handy for many different tasks.
get a flexible shaft for it
