I have watched and read so many reviews on both the CAK and the 18" AK and from what I can see it looks like the CAK handle is much smaller.... which worries me a bit. I am 6.2 and wear size XL gloves

Is there anyone who can give some input/advice regarding this, are the handles on the CAK big enough .... or is the 18" AK a better option? Any input please

The handles seem pretty much the same to me, I've handled several of each and both types very similar. They do vary of course.
I'd just tell Yangdu that you'd prefer the largest handle she has in either type your prefer.
I have small hands by comparison but do find that handles that seem small seem to be more comfortable than handles that are hand filling. The snap wrist chop doesn't require a real solid grip to work best.
Others much wiser than me will be along I'm sure with some helpful feed back.
On the positive side, a handle that is too large can easily be reduced for a perfect fit.

I've noticed that Lachhu kami tends to make "fat" handles on his knives. However, that's no guarantee, since there's a lot of variability even with the same kami and the same model knife.

Usually the large heavy choppers tend to have bigger handles, since the kamis like to keep everything in proportion. Also, no guarantee.

I still remember a few years ago I bought a beautiful 21" OAL Chitlangi and had to return it because the handle girth was just too much for me to hold. Ordinarily the Chitlangi is not considered one of HI's heavyweight knives, but at 21" this one was pretty massive.

I agree that they are pretty much the same within the AK and CAK's. I have several of each and can say they really dont have any noticeable difference to me. I have short sausage fingers and at first I thought i wouldnt like the larger handles but the larger handles give you more torque from side to side when you want to twist your wrist to pry a split log apart for example. Like Bawanna said it dont take a tight grip to do an effective wrist snap so I actually find the larger girth handles have more functionality than the smaller girth even with my sausage hands. Thats just my two Satoshis tho?
