Handled my first Leek today

Is it a predecessor to the 1610/1615? That always looked pretty Leekish to me

It was intended to be a larger version of those/these. Yes, a little Leekish. :)

I am probably going to catch some flak for this, but I have never warmed up to the leek. Something about the blade shape just doesn't do it for me. Now, if they all had the non-serrated random leek blade, then we'd be in business.

That being said, I am still on the hook for the orange model. :p

I'm with you. Never warmed up to it. I probably will buy one some day

I'm going to confess I just found this site and just realized I collect knives (got them all out to sharpen one day and realized I had a collection.) I love the leek. There has been a leek in my pocket everyday for the last 3 years. I've cut everything from boxes to 1/0 wire to metal banding to a deer pelvis with it. Even a plugged in extension cord (whoops but forced me to buy a new one :)) the sandvik stainless has done me well. I can resharpen it on any old carbide cutter or stone laying around the shop and it will hold a great edge which makes plastic shrink wrap a snap. my only gripe is the tip is weak. I should probably pick up a random leek. Either way I love this design. The speed safe has never let me down either 3 straight years ever day and it still snaps open like an auto. I've now switched from the regular blade and went to the composite. The D2 is superior for those tough cuts.
