handles -stag and genune mother of peral

I hope I am posting in the right spot. Is there someone out here that can tell me more about stag handles and mother of peral handles? What type of bone is used in handles ?

Stag handles are made of deer antler, usually from the Sambar deer or from the Red deer. Sambar is near impossible to get right now however.

Whitetail and mule deer antler can be used but because of the porous nature of the center of the antler it is best used as a full round, not as flat scales.

Mother of pearl is from the shell of the pearl oyster hence the name.

Mother of pearl is very nice for a number of uses including knives.
However if you work with it keep the dust mask on it dangerous stuff to get in your lungs. Also keep it cool while working.

If you look up Broome Western Australia you may be able to buy some.
They have a large pearling industry.
