Handles w/ no pins ???

One thing I've done for hidden pins is use threaded rod. Once I even tapped the tang of the knife to screw the pins through; those babies weren't going anywhere! :) That was probably overkill. My idea was that the threads should add a bit of grip for the epoxy too. There are cases - more opinion - where a handle with no pins showing looks great, like gixxer's knife above. Just another trick up one's sleeve. ;) I do believe that pins should be included; I just do not trust epoxy only, regardless how good it is.

I recall a similar discussion on another forum years ago, where someone opined that long after a knife had turned to dust and rust in the ground, the thin film of epoxy would still be there. Probably right too. But why leave it to chance? I'm a mechanical fastener kind of guy I guess.

3M makes a two side tape used on Aircraft. I know Chris reeve used it on his pink Ivory knife on his site. The knife is still holding up after 20 years.

That is VHB tape. It have seen a supplied sample where they bonded glass to steel and pulled them apart, and there was glass shards still stuck to the steel. I'm sure they engineered the test to fail that way, but still...

That tape does work, but the scales are inset into the handles so no pealing or shear is applied to the tape beyond a certain point and it won't work for all materials. Surprisingly, it isn't that sticky when you get it on your fingers, duct tape is way stickier. There are many different styles of it too. It was about .50 cent an inch when I priced it in volume. I stuck to CA for the application.
