I'm still working on my first knife and realized I have no clue how to make a handle for it. At the moment I'm not interested in scales, I find most of them to be ugly so I was wondering if any of you had any websites with directions (step-by-step preferably) on how to make a one peice handle

This may be off the wall but I was recently wondering if I could wrap a knife tang with thick nylon rope, then melt the rope with a propane torch, and file/sand/buff the resultant "lump" into a decent handle? I got this brain fart a week or so ago while melting the ends of heavy nylon rope for use with radio antennas. When I got over eager with the heat the result was sizeable blobs of shiny black, sticks to everything, hard and tough "glop." I need to try this with a piece of odd steel and wonder if anyone else has tried it.....? Thanks for listening.

its amazing how easy looking things over is, you know? Who'd a thunk it that theres a knife making tutorial website called knifehow.com?

Thanks guys
