anyone put corian on with gorilla glue?
how did it work?
I did but won't know for 24 hrs.
vern;)

Corian ,is that plastic with a oily feel to it am I correct ,not many glues like it ,you may be better off using rivets that will hold it on.
If any one knows it better please chime in.

I use epoxy to hold corian scales on. Never had any trouble with them falling off unless I get it too hot on the sander. I don't know about gorilla glue though.

when you get ready you have to clean all your finger prints with alcohol.
my buddy who has been doing this for years , says you can use it.but if you but joint two peices then you you have to get the glue from dupont to match the colar your working with.
i'll find out tomorrow.

its a big mess, I am not sure what I can use gorilla glue for. I did a test to see how well it held by glueing a micarta block to a piece of stainless (0.040 304 for liners), I let it dry and then next day threw it on the floor. On the 3rd toss they split apart. There was glue on both surfaces showing that the glue failed. I had clamped with a spring clamp.

Got a bottle, any neat stuff some can suggest??

Simple Superglue works fine with Corian. I use it all the time to glue Corian blanks to the brass tubes when I turn pens.

You are expecting too much out of your adhesives, guys.
For the most part, glue, epoxy, etc. are primarily to seal off any gaps and to prevent moisture from entering unseen areas.
For attachment of scales, the pins and bolts are the holding strength.
If you threw that thing on the floor and it didn't break until the third try - that's some awesome stuff!!

I used Gorilla glue as a last resort fix on my lawn mower. The blade sheared off the splines on the spindle and broke off the bolt when I hit a big rock.
I drilled out the bolt replaced it and put in some gorilla glue and a oversized washer. That was one of the first cuts this year and the Gorilla glue is still holding!!!

I do pin everything but am confused about how others get such a good glue joint. My quest started after glueing handles on a folder and before I got a chance to pin I dropped it on the floor and the handle came off. I just read the thread Glue Wars and it seems he got alot better results than I have. I have been using a light bulb to keep epoxy warm and it is holding alot better than before. I dont think gorilla glue is worth the mess and I worry that the foaming out of the joint will leave gaps.

well i went and checked to see how the gorilla glue worked. well it worked great, so i drilled some pin holes and it worked great.
no mess to speak of, just left it for 48 hours before i messed with it. i think it will do just fine.
vern

let you know later how it holds up under cutting pressure.
