Had to wait until 3 am Texas time to hear Saddam's verdict live via radio. Guilty, and by golly they intend to hang him. Verdict is supposed to be carried out sometime in the next 30 days (let's hope the wheels of justice don't get a flat tire). Might be hard for us to understand or believe, but there are many in Iraq scared to move forward as long as Saddam is still alive. That fear runs deep, and for good reason. Going to be interesting to see the various responses that will follow his demise. Sic semper tyrannis :thumbup:

The Brits applauded that Iraq's legal system worked, without applauding the verdict. They don't believe in Capital punishment, as neither do many other of the US's allies.
I think it's just Capital, though, peachy keeno all the way.

Looks like every generation will get to see the death of a great despot. Our fathers had Hitler, and we get Saddam.
I'm glad we got him before he could do more harm.

They need to face it, some folks you can't do anything else with, you have to kill him. I wish they would have picked something slower.

Pacifism and non-violence only work as long as the party in question has some kind of moral fiber for it to work on. If that's not present, the choices get pretty limited.

I wouldnt give him that much credit, murderous tinpot dictator maybe but not anywhere near powerfull enough or smart enough to have a reasonable shot at counquering the world. Our generation has seen greater and more powerful (Im not going to say worse becuase evil is hard to measure) dictators fall.

He's the best known Killer of our age, unless you count Idi Amin or Pot Pal (sic?) . Hey- not everyone gets a Hitler or Stalin. This is the Big Mac Age- best we could do.

A good end for this bastard and his sons. Wonder if he'll end like Mussolini, his body torn to pieces by the crowd or will he end like Tsar Nicholas, in a hidden grave taken from a secret place. Either way, may he end in fear and pain.

I hope we don't see a repeat of herman goering and how he killed himself hours before he was gonna get hanged.
