As for the method of rehab, this one took a 2x72" belt grinder. I used an 8" wheel and a worn 60 grit belt for most of the work.
I started by cleaning up the profile, which made the edges even thicker. Then I worked the edges vertically at 90 degrees to the wheel. I centered the edges, then got them near sharp. From there I just worked my way back towards the eye, trying to thin everything out evenly. I began with the grub edge since it took less work and will take more abuse. Once I felt comfortable, I went to the chopping edge. Although this is nice and shiny, it is a very rough job. There is a limit to how tight you can get things with a belt grinder. If I really want to dial this thing in, I could spend another good chunk of time with files, stones, paper, etc.
