I am confused. Did he promise to give you something and then not follow through?

More details would be appreciated.

He promised to give me a knife several years ago, and he did so I am somewhat surprised and completely confused.
 
I bought a knife from him and it was a smooth as silk transaction.. Decent guy far as I could tell.

This is you right? You asked him for something "if and when he was ready", so maybe he changed his mind or he's not ready yet. It's only been a few weeks, I've got plenty of materials that I've been sitting on for years...

That's not a reason to slam his reputation over. Doesn't seem you really had a deal.
 
I sent him a PM and he actually replied. The option is on, it would not be in a knifemakers best interest to remove that avenue of communication. Seems like a misunderstanding happened.
 
Looks like the lot sold the day after your messages. I would imagine that nullified the "breaking up" situation and he may have intended to send you something if it hadn't (no promise was made that I can see). If it were me, I would've been thankful for the pending offer. As for the PM thing, his inbox may have been full. We don't get that much room.

Where I was offering a of A-2 PG steel for sale.
This was a few days before I went in for stomach surgery that took over a month to recover from, Bladeforums was not on the top of my list at that time
There was clearly a misunderstanding apparently there was some expectation for me to send some steel your way. Just not seeing it in the PM.

What I was going to do to was help out a fellow knife-maker who is just starting out, and send you some free profiled blades for practice.
Please feel free to chime in and show where I promised anything at any point. At that time life kicked in and had forgotten about it until I get a PM from the Mod telling me I am getting SLAMMED in the GB&U.

All that was needed was a reminder in the form of an Email or PM and Will be glad to send you some of the extra 5160 I have.
Pm and Email have always been available

Well, this is why I ask people to be patient, and make concerted efforts to handle things in a responsible and mature fashion. Blasting people on the forums without providing factual information makes the person complaining look much worse. I think a lot of people fail to understand that these things are like a double edged sword. While you try and cut into someone, you are getting diced yourself.

I guess I assumed that when you asked me for my address that you were going to send me something, so I waited. I wasn't told otherwise? I assumed wrongly.
And please don't anybody break the word assume down for me, I know that one.

You know, I'm done. The Christian thing to do is leave it alone. Well the Christian thing to do is to have never brought it up in the first place. I have edited everything out.
