'Hanson Effect' Large Bowie

Killer Don!

I glanced at this on my phone and thought it was stag at first, that ivory is nuts! It's going to age phenomenally.

Great Bowie, Don !
Congrats to the lucky guy that's getting this one.

A real jewel, Don!! That slender frame handle and mammoth are killer...and I haven't even got to the blade, yet!

Just an awesome bowie. That has to be super light and fast in hand, especially for a frame handled piece.

I'm not sure I remember seeing set of bark scales I've loved more than those.

What great texture, and dark color.

Fantastic bowie.

Especially loving the blade length.

Really outstanding..! The mammoth is something special, and Random
Damascus in a favorite of mine.......

And since it's a "Hanson Effect" does that mean you can't make any more till after
"Best Bowie 2016"...??...:-)

There's no question about Don making a beautiful Bowie. But as a maker, I am seeing the patterns in the steel, especially the frame, and imagining his process and this is intriguing to me. This is a new favorite Hanson for me.

Great photos Jim!

Comment: my son Trevor took one look at this when I pulled it out of Don's pouch and said "Shinnnng!"

He was referring to the sound of blade steel; this long and powerful.

Even he knows. :D

Thanks Don! Thanks guys!

Elegant, deceptively simple and refined. Not easy to make a bowie look "just right" like that. Well played, Don!

Very appealing. I especially like the blade profile and the Damascus pattern on the guard, and the way it is oriented wrt the ricasso.

Thanks for sharing.

What can I add? Don Hanson Awesomeness! To the eye it appears to be impeccable perfection.

I keep coming back to look at this knife. Every bit of it is just ridiculously beautiful.

"Shinnng" indeed. Looks light and quick, and with that surface texture in the ivory I'd just want to pick it up and take a whack at something with it. Keep making 'em Don. We'll all look forward to agonizing over which one is our favorite in next years Best Bowie contest!
