Large Ozark hunter, at that. I have had an order in with Don for a hunter for some time, which he seems to have trouble making between Pirate bowies, sub-hilts, slipjoints, linerlocks and Klackers. :D I knew when the time came, I would be happy with the result, as Don has made hundreds of hunters over the years. I wanted a 5-inch to 6-inch carbon steel blade with subtle hamon, 5-inch handle, single hilt damacus guard and some of his nice Ozark black walnut. Don sent a picture of the forged blade he had in mind after forging a few weeks ago, and we were off. Since Don was kind enough to share some images during the process, I thought I would share a few of them here.

5 7/8ths-inch 1086M blade, 11 3/8ths-inch OAL, full 5-inch handle. Great palm swell in the handle, some extra smoke at the end of the 'subtle' hamon. Hope you like it.

I really like the wipsy hamon, Doug. I said it was 'subtle' (for Don anyway :D). Tame hamon might be a better description. What ever you call it, I like it on this knife!

Thanks for the comments.

It's all worth mention, but the 'wispy' hamon is incredibly apt. :)
