Large Ozark hunter, at that. I have had an order in with Don for a hunter for some time, which he seems to have trouble making between Pirate bowies, sub-hilts, slipjoints, linerlocks and Klackers.
I knew when the time came, I would be happy with the result, as Don has made hundreds of hunters over the years. I wanted a 5-inch to 6-inch carbon steel blade with subtle hamon, 5-inch handle, single hilt damacus guard and some of his nice Ozark black walnut. Don sent a picture of the forged blade he had in mind after forging a few weeks ago, and we were off. Since Don was kind enough to share some images during the process, I thought I would share a few of them here.
5 7/8ths-inch 1086M blade, 11 3/8ths-inch OAL, full 5-inch handle. Great palm swell in the handle, some extra smoke at the end of the 'subtle' hamon. Hope you like it.
Thanks for viewing, and thanks for another great knife, Don!
