Been distracted this year from both work and personal perspectives. Missed Blade, been a ghost on the forum, still need to renew my CKCA membership, haven't added a knife to the herd since before my mom passed away in February. That is, until now :D

Been wanting a Scary Tac from Don for a while. The time was right, Don was in the mood...lets get creative!

Requested stunning ivory, crazy hamon, scary damascus bolster, and signature Starship Enterprise opening disk. Also talked about a profile that was a bit more angular/edgy than the classic design. I was worried the specific "angular" elements I requested would potentially detract from the outstanding flow of Don's knife design. After a few conversations with him we were good to go.

I was googly eyed when the knife arrived. The ivory commanded immediate attention. The color, depth, and rings rocked my world  I know "chatoyancy" describes outstanding depth and a three-dimentional appearance in wood. Don't know if it is correct to use with fossil ivory but this ivory has it!!!

The hamon shows opened or closed. Looks like flames emulating from the demons in the bolsters. The compressed scary damascus at the ends of the bolster add a nice transition to the rings in the ivory. The scallops and points on the bolsters, as well as the slightly more angular details on the spine and belly of the blade, came out how my minds eye had envisioned them as Don and I talked. This knife has BEEF.

Off to The Master for leather. I asked Paul for horizontal draw with inlay. As always, beauty with fantastic fit and finish. The knife blade snaps open as it clears the leather. Nice!

Last but not least, visit with Coop and Susan at NYCKS last weekend. Coop's magic brings out the highlights on this knife in an exceptional manner.

This knife is special to me and has sentimental meaning in many ways. Thank you Don, Paul, and Coop!!!

Happy Thanksgiving to y'all on the forum!!! Feels great to be back and engaged again!

Thats so sweet, and I love seeing the thumb disk from the top. Is the pouch for carry or just for the package?

Just can't beat Don and Paul, with Coop to show it.

What a folder, and a sheath and photos to match!

I held this knife and sheath and they are wonderful

Congrats my friend on another spectacular piece

Absolutely stunning, that personifies "dress tactical" IMHO.

very awesome! Things are lookin up, eh?

Totally cool, Rob! Nice way to get back on board.

So much going on, all working together so well. Just a wicked looking Tac with all the right angles. You guys cooked up a winner!

I like that M.S. touch. Special!

Out-outstanding, knife. From the handle to the hints of gold to the damascus fittings. Their are just so many aspects. Angle's and curves all over the place.

Great knife thanks for sharing.

Life always has ups and downs. Didn't Norton describe the rules of the sewer to Ralph that sounded something like "be nice to the people you see on the way up because they're the same people you'll see on the way back down". Things are cool, just have to Banzai your way through sometimes. It's good to be active here again vs. just reading O.P.P. (other people's posts)

Appreciate the good words and congratulations from y'all. It lifts the spirit. Don, Paul and Coop...they are rockstars!

Jon, I can't even fake it and say I'll carry this one. I carry some of the knives Kim Breed and Wally Hayes made for me but my Hanson's are not users at this point.

I was bent over shooting another knife with my back to the door, when I heard this BIG BOOOMING voice:

"Hey Susan! It's nice to see you again. I've got a little project for you..."

Unmistakably Rob.

Well, did MY eyes go googly when he draws this out of the pouch.

There was too much goodness to clutter up a single rectangle, so I created four. :p Rob and Don simply took an amazing design to the upper level.

This knife solidifies MY desire to create a 'Best Folder/Small Knife - 2012' thread as Roger has done so successfully with the Bowies.

(BTW: This knife would look good laying on a McDonalds bag with dried french fries as props. It transcends the viewer. LOL!)

That is a fantastic piece - bold, striking and beautiful - hats off to all involved!

I'm not usually a fan of multiple busy materials being used on a knife but I really like this one!
