Holy crap, what a difference a real grinder makes! Like many a maker whose ambitions were much larger than his bank account I started off using a crappy 1X30 grinder. I forged my first blade from a leaf spring and spend about a bizzillion (that's a technical term) hours grinding it. Fast forward a while. I was at Sears and came across the 2X42 for $100. I bought that and I thought it was the sh&*! It was a giant leap ahead from the 1X30. A couple weeks ago I saw a Coote with a 1hp motor for sale from a fellow forum member (thanks Bodfish Mike). I got it and put it to the test and all I can say is WOW! Feels like I went from a moped to a Yugo to a Mustang. To all those out there that ask the question : which grinder should I get you cant go wrong with a Coote. Especially for the price. It might seem a little much for the new maker but it wont break the bank and if time is money you will come out ahead with just a few knives.

I love my coote. It was what i could afford when i wanted to get a real grinder, and it's a great little tool (or big tool as the case may be) i'll get plenty of work out of it before i ever have to upgrade
