Happy 4th Everyone

Fishing, hiking, bbq, all in one day?! And that's what SHE wants to do?! You are one lucky man!!!

Souds like fun, I hope all the fireworks lad in the ocean! You guys out there had enough to worry about.

That is were the ignorance of California LE really shows.

Years ago when I was a kid, LE would turn a blind eye to the fireworks, and everyone would shoot them off from the beach and over the ocean. Then they decided to start cracking down, and they set up check points at all entrances to the beach, even our private foot path, to check bags/coolers for fireworks.

Sooo, now everyone shoots them off from there houses, and from the streets, which causes a bigger firehazard than when we used to shoot them off over the ocean. Just plain ignorant.

A few people still do some from the beach, if they get to the beach early enough and stay all day. Or, some people will bury them in the sand the day before.

P.S. Does anyone know if LE can legally deny you access from the beach if you do not let them search your property? I know that they can't legally search your property without your consent, good cause, or a search warrent, but if you refuse to give consent can they bar you from entering a public beach?

Happy 4th to all! Great day here, low 70`s. Just got back from the parade, my 2 grandaughters and grandson were in it. Now it`s time to kick back and get ready to cook out, and drink some beers. (no grinding today)

Its the 4th in southern Missouri, we are either in a drought or monsoon season, this year we have already reach a normal years rainfall.

Y'all have a soggy fun filled Holiday. Pat

Happy 4th everyone! :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Already took a short hike with my new SBT (pics & review soon). Got rained out early. :D Now I'll have to ride the ##*@//!! stationary bicycle for an hour to get a workout. :p

Tonight Karen and I will probably follow our usual Friday evening celebration. Pop a new blu-ray into the home theater system, turn the volume up 'til the sub-woofer rattles your bones, and consume all the boiled shrimp, white wine, fancy crackers, gouda cheese and fresh artichoke our tummies can handle; all this seated on the sofa in front of the HD moniter.

Just celebrated my 64th birthday on the 2nd. Got five phone calls from well wishers: 1st son & daughter-in-law, 2nd son, brother, mom & pop in-law and sister-in-law. My folks are no longer with us so it's great that everyone stays in touch.

My 2nd son, Kevin, and his wife, Jami, have decided to return to the states from Costa Rica and start a business in North Carolina or Florida instead. Much closer to home either way. They have already accepted an invitation to join me on my annual 3 day Grand Canyon trek the first week in November. I hope to keep the GC trip going at least until I turn 70. After that, we'll see. ;)

Again, happy 4th to you all. :)

Same to you HDW! Happy B-Day as well...the Skookum was either good timing or good planning for your Birthday; one of my favorite bushcrafters!

ROCK6

Thanks rock, I like the Skookum already though I haven't had a chance to use it yet. Took about 9 months to arrive so any proximity to my birthday was purely coincidental. Well worth the wait though, and Rod doesn't charge you 'til he's ready to ship. I got the model pictured at the top of his home page. In A2. Nice! :)

Karen has ordered the BRKT Golok for my BD. Preliminary reviews look good. What a sweetie! (Karen I mean. :D)
