Today's my dad's birthday, 90 years!!!!, and I want to publicly wish him a happy one and hope he makes it at least ten more. I'll call him later today to wish him well personally.

Lives alone in the family home in Springfield, MO. Cooks his own food, does all the housework including washing clothes. Grows a big garden in the summer, shovels snow in the winter, does all home repair and maintenance, changes the oil on his Audi (saves his mustard and mayo jars and smuggles the oil into the garbage a jar at a time to avoid disposal fees!) and makes guitars "to keep from going crazy." Got 35 or 40 guitars hanging around the house.

And smokes a carton a week, drinks 10 or 12 cups of coffee by noon, eats whatever he wants, and just keeps on tickin'.

Thanks, Dad, for doing so much for so long.

People like him make me think I might make 70. Of course, people like him are very, very rare

Rare, indeed.

Last summer when we visited he looked at me, shook his head, and said, "it's hell to watch your kids get old."

Will do. Dad is a non-computer man so what I'll do is print out this thread and send it to him next week.

I too would like to wish your father a Happy Birthday!:)

Uncle Bill:

Please add my good wishes on your father's birthday.

It's nice to hear about hale and hearty people at that age. You and I have seen the same number of years, and I'd like to believe we'll be around to wish each other a happy 90th.

Blessing upon you and yours,

JimF

Wow! 90! Add my birthday wishes to your Dad, Uncle

BTW Would that make him my Uncle Grandpa?!? I get so confused sometimes:confused: ;)

It is truly great to see folks like your dad takin' care o' biddness at his age. I'll be lucky to hit 70!

Just goes to show that none of the 'health studies' are anything more than tendencies--if that, who knows what other complicating factors they have forgotten to account for.

Hope he continues to keep on ticking in this manner - living his life as he wants to.

cheers, B.

What Yvsa said, but just to clarify - prosperity is counted in the ways you want it to be. May he be rich in the things he cares about. May both he and his children find and keep that richness throughout their lives. Please pass this to your estimable father and keep as much of my estimation for yourself as you can without turning into a fathead, Bro. ( But then Yangdu could handle that problem anyway. VBEG )

WOW! Glad I checked in today! Uncle Please add my Happy Birthday wishes to the list for your dad. I love to hear of folks not just turning 90, but doing with their mind and dignity intact--that's an accomplishment! :):)

May your dad have many many more happy years to go:D

Ah, excellent! I’m glad to have such an auspicious occasion to mark my “return” to the forum :). Please convey my wishes for a happy birthday to your esteemed father, Uncle Bill. He sounds like one those cool, crusty old guys that I hope to be fortunate enough to emulate someday. I hope he has a great birthday today and many more in the future!
