WHen I was younger(high school days), I had a friend whose Dad was USMC.. Hell I think he even bled OD when he'd cut his self shaving.. I lost touch with him once I left DC, but can always remember when we'd go to parades.. Whenever he'd see another marine or marines, he'd just about scare the hell outta folks(including myself if I wasn't paying attention) when he'd 'crank off' with a "OOHH-Rah !! Good to go, good to know!!" He'd have folks ducking for cover from just the force of him yelling it..

I'll dedicate my Marine Happy Birthday to Ted Williams, my late Marine friend who was a Bataan Death March survivor and wrote a couple books about the tragic experience. He later founded a fund to help educate kids in the Philippines and made a number of trips back there to facilitate the project. He was a hell of a man, in so many ways.
