... and an early Happy Halloween!

Went with the family to the 'farm' for Thanksgiving dinner today... My in-laws grew some pumpkins so I ended up carving one for/with the kids...!

Got this knife from a belljs3 off the exchange a few weeks ago (Thanks J.!). It is an awesome knife and my first Northfield. I've wanted a long pull for quite some time (in the short time I've been into traditionals... lol!). It is a stunning looking knife and is razor sharp!

It was a nail breaker when I received it and this ended up bothering me more than I thought it would (coming from 'quick draw' modern folders the whole nailnick/pinch open thing has been a bit of an adjustment) so over the last few weeks I've been figuring out how to soften the pull and now it is much easier, though still a fairly heavy and secure snap. My finger nails are much happier...!

Anyway, put it to use today... Happy (Canuck) Thanksgiving and early Halloween!

Glad you like the 73!

It's got a heavy pull, I found it was all in technique. Started using my thumbnail, as far away from the pivot as possible and it became a lot more manageable.

Hope you had a good thanksgiving, pumpkin looks awesome!!

Hehe... Thanks for the tip! I figured out the leverage thing pretty quick as I was bitten by the bear trap.... A small but deep cut on the top of my ring finger that bleed for two days. I was/am also getting used to the half stop. I think the half stop/strong pull may be a love hate relationship... Perhaps more love...;)

Great jack-o-lantern! Hope the kids enjoyed it.
Happy Thanksgiving to our northern neighbors, and happy Columbus Day to the stateside contingent!

Thanks for the kind words everyone!

And yes... Happy Columbus Day to our neighbours to the south!

Happy Thanksgiving to you Canadian members! Enjoy the day and most of all BE THANKFUL! :D

Charlie told me he's gone and stopped drinking! At least that's what I think he meant when he said he was "off to drink Canada dry" ;)

boom tish!
I gave up drinking years ago-it was around the time they brought guzzling in.:p
Great Jack O Lantern toflick. I started doing a couple of these for the kids every year for Halloween-Maybe its something to do with the seasons being opposite but many many Australians are anti Halloween. My kids will join in with their friends for a trick or treat round the immediate streets. Most people will have goodies on hand to give out but many are unaware or unwilling to participate. Some will leave a note out that basically states "no lollies here go away". Unfortunately the price of pumpkins big enough to make a decent one goes through the stratosphere for the 2 weeks prior to Halloween.Normally they are fed to livestock. So its pay exorbitant prices for something yer gonna cut holes in and throw away, grow your own pumpkins,or.......

The DIY "Meak 'O' Lantern" lasts all year.

Great lantern Meako. When I was a kid, there were no pumpkins here, people made lanterns out of turnips! A & E must have been packed out!
