.....I trust its better than the last few days of 2009 with 15 of my neighbours homes burnt to the ground....pets,livestock everything they own gone......started Xmas Eve and wiped them all out by Xmas morning.....still as they all tell me no loss of life in this one and when you stand and survey nothing but black earth its only 'stuff' thats been burnt and most can be replaced....their bigest regrets are they never had time to even get precious photos with only few minutes notice of evacuation....
My whole knife collection was already packed up in shipping container out the front ready for my shift interstate and it was only a North Wind change 5 minutes before it took us out as well that saved us.....my wife and I and our pooch and elderly lady neighbour were ready to hop in the container as well and take our chances......record dry and record heat this year since they started records in the late 1800's....Perth lost 38 homes Xmas day with record heat..now record flooding interstate....dont tell me this planet is not in a global warming spin......even my mate who was doing my shift was totally destroyed....
All the best for 2010....takes more than a Bushfire to take the human spirit..one of my closest friends lost her mother and her two children and absolutely everything she owned to the last Bushfire we had in 2005 and she is still carrying on with life.......Hoo Roo
I am so sorry to hear of the tragedies in Australia. I am feeling grateful to be still standing on my hind legs for another year. I have lost several near and dear ones in 2009. I am very positive about the coming year, but realizing it's not going to be ALL roses. All the best to all of you!
I hope you each and every one have a safe, happy and prosperous new year. I too feel fortunate to have lived thru another one with my health mostly intact. It has gotten harder the last few years instead of easier, but I remind myself that I have it better than many do.
Larry, glad you dodged a bullet on that one, someone was definitely looking down on you. You might have come out a tad crispy if you had to resort to that container!
Hopefully nature will treat you and the rest of your country (and the world for that matter) a lot better this year.
Here's wishing a Happy and most importantly Healthy New Year to everyone on this great forum!!
Cannot begin to feel what that awful experience must of felt like Larry!! Really pleased you made it through yourself! Thinking of others who were not so fortunate. Hope this year brings things together better than 09 seemed to do. Happy New Year to all who frequent this forum and all who visit BFC.
My best wishes and kind regards to all my BF friends here. it's been 3 years since i began collecting Schrades and i am forever grateful for the help guidance, and friendship i have found here.
