When I was a kid, my dream was to get a kit car. It wasn't exactly in the same category as what your friend has. It carried two passengers, ran off a 6 or 9 HP one cylinder engine, and was called a King Midget. Today it would be probably be called a fancy go cart. Here's a couple of pictures:

Ben it seems like I remember those. Weren't they in the small ads in the back of some magazines?

Made it home safe and sound with the new Camry. I've stated before it has 10 more horses than our old Dodge but it seems like much more than that. It is a whole lot peppier than the old Dodge!!!! May be due too the five speed tranny versus the four, but whatever it is I like it!!!!!:D  :D

Yes. In Mechanics Illustrated, Popular Science, and most of the outdoor magazines. I sent off for one of the catalogs and spent hours planning the car I was going to build. It was a stretch for me to come up with the dollar for the catalog, so buying the car was nothing more than a dream.

I recently got a Honda Element '03 ex AWD. Great car!!! Small SUV with good mileage. Talk about versatile!! Wipe-down vinyl floors, stain-and-waterproof seats. Fold-up (against the walls!!) rear seats. Kicking sound system, and AWD for Iowa winters. That means quite a lot of snow, lotta ice, really cold, lots of wind, and generally unpredictable.

I love the car. Looks are questionable, but then again, a car should resemble its owner, right? :)

Anyways, I think it looks great. 4-banger, but enough power for me. Low-emissions vehicle (Yeah, I DID consider that when getting a new car), which matches the Sierra Club static sticker in the back. BTW i'm not actually a member. I just like some stuff they do. Not everything, mind you. But they are the largest environmental lobby, so whatever.

Gawd, am I already back to environmental policy on a car thread? Wow, that's pretty bad. Terribly sorry! :)

Anyways, congrats on new car. A friend of mine's mom has one. Great car! Any other cool cars out there?

Chris
