Very good GAW with appropriate knives!

Not an entry though as I want others to have a chance, can't resist the questions mind.

1. Eli Wallach the late great villain!
2. 'The Good the Bad & the Ugly'. I like Sergio Leone's alternative West...
3. Bolt !
4. Never read one, I prefer it in films or knives:D

Many thanks, Will

First of all, congrats to Woodrow on his Roy & Dale barlow, and kudos to flatblackcapo for his generosity :thumbup:

Second, thanks to Woodrow for sponsoring this GAW. Great knives up for grabs, and I think your "theme" is really inspired and entertaining!

Third, my attempt to answer the questions (another thing I like about the "theme" is it's so thought-provoking for me; I've changed my mind on some of them a dozen times in about 12 hours, so I guess I'll just go with my current opinions):
1. Favorite Actor: I'll go with Chief Dan George (sometimes stuff I see in this forum makes me think of his famous quote, "My heart soars!")

2. Favorite Movie: this one is the killer for me. I could start with "Spin and Marty" from the Mickey Mouse Club TV show in the 50s, and work up through lots of great ones - High Noon, Eastwood spaghetti westerns, Paint Your Wagon (my favorite musical), Dances with Wolves, True Grit, Lonesome Dove … But here's my final pick: Little Big Man starring Dustin Hoffman (and the aforementioned Chief). The fact that Faye Dunaway is also in the movie is the clincher for me:D

3. Horse's Name: when I was a kid, we had a horse named Penny, and I'll go that nostalgic route (even though I realize that Penny was the niece of Sky King, the first arizonaranchman I knew - lots of good westerns on Saturday morning TV when I was a lad! maybe I should change my actor choice to Clayton Moore, who was that masked man)

4. Favorite Book: Lonesome Dove (and the other related McMurtry books)

What fun! Thanks, Woodrow (but I have a real job to do too, you know; I can't afford a distraction like this;))

1. What is your Favorite Western Actor? Robert Duvall - his Print Ritter or Boss Steadman are the best.
2. What is your Favorite Western Movie? The Outlaw Josey Wales, with Broken Trail as a close second.
3. If you lived in your favorite Western Movie, what would your horse's name be? Hidalgo.
4. What is your favorite Western Book? Guthrie's The Big Sky. Honorable mention to Lamour's The Ferguson Rifle.

Western actor. Let's see.. Robert Duvall, Tommy Lee Jones, Tom Selleck, on and on. Hard to pick just one
Movie. High Noon, hands down.
Horse would have to be Lightning
Books, again, too many choices. If I had to pick one, it would probably be Undaunted Courage by Steven Ambrose.

Thanks for the chance.

Not an entry, but I will play along and bump this one back up to the top.

2a. Who is your Favorite Western Actor? Robert Duvall
2b. What is your Favorite Western Movie? Lonesome Dove or Tombstone
2c. If you lived in your favorite Western Movie, what would your horse's name be? Glue Factory (horses don't like me, the feeling is mutual)
2d. What is your favorite Western Book? God's Middle Finger: Into the Lawless Heart of the Sierra Madre

Not an entry, but kudos to Woodrow for a great GAW!
Who is your Favorite Western Actor? While John Wayne carries the day, I've got to give my vote to Victor McLaglen (superb in crusty/humorous NCO roles in John Ford's cavalry movies)
What is your Favorite Western Movie? My Darling Clementine
If you lived in your favorite Western Movie, what would your horse's name be? Luck
What is your favorite Western Book? "Hound Dog Man," by Fred Gipson, published in 1947. Though Gipson considered "Old Yeller" his best work, "Hound Dog Man" is one of those books I've read and enjoyed once a year for many a decade.

Great GAW, Woodrow! Anybody ever tell you Woodrow F Call is a great Western movie name?

Favorite movie:

Both versions:

Favorite actor: Hailee Steinfeld in the new True Grit...

...followed in second place by Johnny Depp in the Jim Jarmusch classic:

And favorite book is True Grit, the definitive American novel.

My horse would be Traveller, named after Robert E Lee's horse. But my uncle had a white gelding named Hound. And the first horse I ever rode was named Dan. So I'm partial to those as well.

This is not an entry, but was too much fun to pass up!

2a. Who* is your Favorite Western Actor? Chuck Connors. There are many greats but watching old episodes of The Rifleman are fond childhood memories.
2b. What is your Favorite Western Movie? For a Few Dollars More. One of Eastwoods best roles IMHO, plus the Sergio Leone soundtrack in The Man with No Name series is pretty enigmatic.
2c. If you lived in your favorite Western Movie, what would your horse's name be? Mare's Leg, because she's a good looking ol' gal but kicks like a mule.
2d. What is your favorite Western Book? Not very well read on Western Novels but dabbled in some Louis L'amour and of course Texas.

I'm out of this one but...
Favorite actor(s) John Wayne, Randolf Scott, Robert Duvall and Clint. Plus ahost of a lot more like Walter Brennan and other character actors that really added to the movies.
Favorite Movies; The Searchers, Red River, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, Outlaw JW, Open Range and The Wild Bunch
Book; Lonely are the Brave by Edward Abbey
