I recommend the Razor Sharp Edgemaking System. I paid like mid $30's for mine. I have a Lansky diamond system, and I have an oil stone, but I never could get the edge I can now get using the paper wheels. Every knife I do now is shaving sharp. The learning curve is minimal. If you get it, be careful with the grit wheel at first, it can take off a good amount of steel pretty quickly. I try to go for a nice even burr as I move the edge across the grit. Old knives are good to practice on.

Those stones are typically far to coarse to get a worthwhile edge. The paper wheels work well or I also use a 220 and 320 belt on a HF 1 x 30 belt sander followed by a green compound buff.
