Harborfreight bandsaw broken

I did replace the belt that covers the wheels once.I got the parts from HF.I had a similiar problem once. I think I used the opposite wheel and swapped them, I think one is geared and under load, while the other is not. BUT my memory is consistantly faulty

Whether or not you can replace that part, it looks repairable to me. If you can't weld it, then take it to a local shop and have it done. I'm a crappy welder and I still think I could do it.

Looks like one of those wicked cheap plastic gears that HF uses in all it's trash tools. They're designed to break after a while so you need to replace them, that's part of the buisness model of HF, sell the cheapest quality tools that you'll have to keep buying every year or two

I think the part to fix that is this:

No just kidding, hopefully you can get your big fancy sawing machine fixed.

I've ordered parts from them in the past. This isn't their strength. It takes awhile. They have all of their manuals online so you can d/l them and get the part number, then you have to call in your order. There's no way to order them online.

if you wanted to be really men you could just buy the exact same one and switch the parts and tell them they sold you a broken one and you just want your money back.

I'm gonna keep my eye on you :D ;) (good idea, but I would have never thought of it) Taking notes

Here is an idea. There are quite a few saws out there that look like they're manufactured by the same company (in china). Jet is the one that comes to mind. I have quite a few Jet machines and have ordered parts from them a couple of times with good luck. The HF saw looks just like a Jet clone, you might call them up, I'll bet they have a part that will work. If you haven't found a replacement let me know and I'll check my saw out for a similar looking part. I can get my saw model # for you to use as reference for Jet (they will ask for the model#). Just let me know . I'll check back in a couple hrs.

If you already ordered the part some jb weld and good joint preperation can keep it going for a while, maybe forever!

Sorry Flatgrinder, wrong saw. I thought you had the floor model that can be either a horiz. cut-off or vertical type bandsaw not a porta-band type saw.I don't know if Jet makes one like that.

I just got off the phone with customer service at HF, it's $1.00 + shipping ($6.95) for a replacement!! :D

When I got mine 14 months ago I bought it with the intention of tossing it when it broke. I still can't believe its still working.

Yep, it's quite a good bandsaw for the price. In all fairness, I think it was me that broke it, I was using a 14 TPI blade and running it too fast while pushing a 1/4" thick piece of CPM S30V into it with quite a bit of force.
