Hello all,
Ive been unable to communicate propyl (of spell!!) for over 15 months.
cut a long story, I suffered 2 stroke in Jan 15.
So now I am trying to get back leather making and at the weekend going to Ian Bailey's for knife time!
I can nearly walk, and I have about 60% mobility in my left arm/hand.
All I can say is I am lucky to be alive, and I battle to adapt my surrounding to suit, i'm not the only one, I know.
I welcome threads from users who have the same situation as me,or full body able to shed there experiences etc.

Brian, I am sorry for your experience and I wish you a speedy recovery! I have not had your level of disability but I have had my own troubles that keep me away from my passion and I can relate.

Wow! thank you for the great wishes.
I remember an old timer, who had bad arthritis in his hands. And he said to me "you have overcome it, adabpt how to use the tools and make it better.
How true, I thought my knife making was over, let alone my life.
from no movement in left side on my body, to 60%. time is a great healer & determination and motivation.
7 days a week my exercises gave me hope, and the knife & Leather community keeps me going.

Welcome back and I hope you have a speedy recovery! I'm about to go into the hospital for a bone marrow transplant on Thursday. Not the same thing, but lots of treatment and recovery. It's always good to read a story about someone making it through the crap and coming out the other side when you have something like that looming.

Seriously, man, thanks for sharing this.

Brian,
Thank you for sharing that with us!
You are an inspiration to many of us
struggling with health issues!
I pray your health continues to improve!

Just want to express my congratulations on you being back on your feet and Tha K you for your shown is strength!

Keep it up bud, you will be back in the swing of things in no time!

glad to hear, Sir, you are getting back together. i've seen my fair share of strokes. so i understand the long recovery and therapy processes as well as the frustration and struggle. glad you are on your way to recovery. that is wonderful news. all the best to you.

Thanks so much,
I'm humbled by your wishes! I appreciate it.
When I woke up in the hospital "I said thank god I'm alive, but can you safe my arm please, coz I've got 5 knifes to finish?"
I hope your bone marrow go good! I think about you.
Tonight is the test if I can make a sheath, with our without one hand!!! I've adapted clamps and getting quite good at the tooling!! Even stitching haha!! But gluing I hated at best of times!! :D
Take care all,
Brian

Don't worry about the spelling - your posts are easier to read than a lot of folks here who haven't had a stroke. :D
