hard chrome plating?

I've recently put a couple handles on blank knives which got me interested in trying my hand at knife making, which of course led me here (been reading for awhile now, thanks to all of you for all the info by the way).

Anyways, a couple threads got me thinking about finishes people put on blades, and the (lack of?) wear resistance that most coatings have on blades. Which leads me to wondering if anyone has tried hard chrome plating a carbon steel balde before? Seems like it would have plenty of corrosion resistance, it would be harder than the steel its on, which makes me think it would be real wear resistant. Any thoughts?

The original Gerber folding hunters used a hard chromed tool steel blade.
Here is something I have wanted to try. After the Blade Show, I will (for free) electroless nickel plate one small test blade. I want the blade to be used after plating, to see if it holds up. I will also plate one in cobalt. These test blades need to be small, under 7" long, total. First two responders get them.
