This is my skinner pattern, but I've ground this one very thin. It could be used in the field by an experienced user, but I actually had you special lunatics :D in mind who might want to process a chicken, fish or perhaps a celery in the kitchen with something similar to a scalpel. The edge thickness before sharpening was a very thin .013 on the proximal end and tapered to a wicked thin .008" on the distal end. Being a very high (past tangent) hollow grind the last inch of this blade is much like a straight razor, but with a belly.

The wood is Ironwood that Tai Goo found in the Arizona desert and gave to me as gift. Cool guy.

Blade is 3 5/8" hollow ground, 7 3/8 OAL. $150 *Sold*
D2 with cold treatment and tempered to HRC 62. This is the perfect steel for this kind of knife (IMO) and this is a high quality HT that has been proven to perform. 304 stainless pins. Comes with a nice basic leather pouch sheath.

That is a great looking knife that looks like it will be extremely functional. I am sorely tempted. Someone...please buy this and save me from myself...:o

Nathan, you're back ! and with another razor cutter ! Great.
I'll take it please. Looks a lot like the one i got from you some time ago, except it is 'only' ground to .009 !, but i'll take another one from you anyday.
Thanks. I'll pm you.

Your best, most useful design yet, Nathan. Elegance, in it's simplicity. Great looking knife.

PP now paid. Thank You Nathan. I hope you make and post more knives here.
I will not speak for the next one as it is only fair that others have the chance to own one of the very best slicers made.

Knife received. Just as i expected: ergonomic, great in-hand feel and an overall profile that gives neurosurgeon-like control of the cutting edge and tip, which is good because this is beyond scary sharp.
I always 'test the edge' as soon as i open up a new knife, by seeing if, and how well, it will shave arm hairs (my left arm is nearly bald because i buy a lotta knives). "never cut myself" can no longer be said. as i gently touched my skin with the blade at about 30 degree angle, my skin parted painlessly and blood began to flow. i had not moved the blade.
Perfect size and profile for field dressing ungulates, ultra thin grind to dangerously sharp edge in wear resistant D2. how could it get any better than this ? Couldn't.
Thank you Nathan the Perfectionist Knifemaking Machinist.
To all the rest: snap up Nathan's next knife for the best slicer you will ever own.
no B.S. here. just tellin' it like it is.

I got one of these about a year ago, thin grind, D2, excellent heat treat etc.. You are going to love how long these stay scary sharp and when it does need it, it takes just a few passes on a sharpmaker. Nathan makes great cutters.

Nathan...I have to say that I am very sorry I missed out on this one. It is an outstanding design and execution. To me, it looks damn near perfect. I will be keeping my eyes open in the future to try to snag one of these.

BTW -- Don't say anything, But if you could just PM me a few minutes before you post the next one, I'd sure appreciate it! ;)

Oh God Roland... ... I'm sorry you got cut.

This one was popping hair pretty good, so I never actually touched it to my skin.

BrewCity59,
I make these from time to time, but I'm really freakin slow...

Nice knife! I really like the design of the handle and the blade shape looks very useful. I'd love to try out your D2 too!
