In my line of work, I break a lot of car windows. I think there are a lot of people who seriously underestimate the strength of tempered glass. IMO, if it's not carbide, it's not a glass-breaker. Spring loaded tips work, but seem like an unnecessarily complicated solution when you can just stick a piece of TC on the butt.
I usually carry a Spyderco Assist at work. Excellent knife. But I sometimes carry one of the new generation CRKT M16 rescue knives. Here's the link to my Blog review of the M16-14Z Emergency Rescue:

I have broken out a bunch of car windows with both those knives and can tell you that their carbide tips work incredibly well. I do prefer the CRKT's tip to the Spyderco's. The grip required to extend the tip on the Assist is a little awkward. But I much prefer the blade on the Assist, for my use anyways.
I also like the Kershaw Blur Rescue. I've used it on a few side windows. Broke them effortlessly.
Benchmade's Triage is one of my favorites as well, but for the beating I give my work knives, it's just too pricey. But, YMMV
