Hard use folder??

Definitely ZT 0300 series, I beat the crap out of my ZT 0301 chopping wood and it has held up great and is still solid as a bank vault. :D

I'd trust any of the ZT line for hard work.

Here's my flier...JYDII CB/CPMD2...I have beat the hell out of it and its trucking right along. Super tough knife. The Tyrade is much the same.

I second the Kershaw Junkyard Dog II. A couple of years ago I was doing a two-day survival course, where we were not allowed to carry anything other than legitimate EDC gear - no purpose-designed stuff. I took my brand-new JYD II (the pedestrian version, not the composite blade or anything else fancy.)

After two days of hard use, including several sessions of batoning through wood (both with and against grain), the JYD was none the worse for wear. After that performance, it earned its place as a permanent EDC choice, and I don't think I've been without it since!

(It also sold me on modern Kershaw products and Sandvik steels.)

I'd say for $200 or less, Emerson knives and ZT would be your best choices. Even the new G-10 kershaw Tyrade would be a beast of a knife for well under $100.

Anything over $200 (more like $400) would be the XM-18, Strider SMF, CRK Umnumzaan/Sebenza.

Just my .02, J.

For hard use I would give it to frame locks, simple in design and strong as hell.

Sebenza- two thick slabs of titanium with perfect fit and finish

Umnumzaan- two thicker slabs of titanium with a thick blade

Strider SNG/SMF- Use it as hard as you want, anything goes amiss have it replaced for free

XM-18 - Thick Spanto blade with Ti handles

A 3.5" knife will chop and baton like crap, it's too short, if you're gonna do that you might aswell use an axe. If this is going to be for EDC, remember that a thick beefy blade will usually cut like shit.

How about a folder from crusader forge? they're really beefy.

The Umnumzaan looks like a really strong knife. I'm really tempted to try one. That said, it's a bit pricey for use as a user knife. My user knives only last a few months before it starts looking like a fillet knife. I would use the Umnumzaan as... to keep in safe. :D If someone offers you an Umnumzaan as a gift, don't say no!

Large regular sebenza or umnumzaan. Both are awsome knives and as tough as it gets. Plus they are backed by the best warrenty in the business.
