I currently have a trade offer for a g-10 liner lock jyd 2. Do you think its as strong as the frame lock version?
Yes, the liners are as thick as many frame lock knives. It can be described as a frame lock with scales. The SG2 version has a much thinner grind on it's steel. It is great steel and makes for a long lasting razor sharp edge but it is very thin. It is a great slicer but will not hold up to the torquing and twisting associated with hard use. For general EDC it is in a class of it's own. But I wouldn't expect it to perform as well if used for chopping, batoning, digging or prying in a hard use camping/survival situation. Perhaps you should look to fixed blade knives as there are many in your price range that will fulfill your needs.
