Hard Use Knife

Thanks folks!

The XD landed at the mqqn compound this afternoon - I took some first-shot pictures.

You should see how the sun glows through those beautiful copper tubes!

Here was my initial mock-up that I came up with -

And John turned that idea into this!!

The grind lines are PERFECT! If I did not know better, I would swear this was made on CNC -

The eXtra Thick spine looks fantastic rounded off - and it comes to a perfect point.

John made an excellent sheath for the XD - I asked for something "law enforcement" like - heavy duty with no nonsense.

John never gives himself enough credit for his leather work - it is very durable and I have NEVER had a problem with a JK Sheath -

He really nailed this one for me!!

So - this knife can be had in a couple of flavors - the XT and a thinner XM, and then I thought it would be cool in a smaller yet size.

The garolite is very smooth - it may be slippery when wet, but the hollow rivet tubes give some traction, and the bird-beak butt also keeps your hand in place.

The handle is very nicely rounded and is a big-honkin' hand filler!!

Thank you Mr. K - you made me very happy with helping me make the XD a reality!

I absolutely love that. Well done gentlemen.

great knife! That would make one heck of a great camp blade I think. batoning/chopping and everything else you could need out a great camp blade! congrats man. If you get around to using her post up some pictures of it taking the beating it appears to be begging for :)

Damn. That looks like a knife to behold. And be held.:D
Looks like it is really comfortable. That rounded spine is a nice touch.

I can't wait 'til October so I can check this bad boy out!:D

Looks wonderful... but I would love to see one with a swedge! That would just be perfect.

I think that my Cutlass was the first JK with a rounded spine. I have really come to like that feature. It looks great and it sure feels good when press cutting things.

Took the XD To the range today - training trumps experience.

One of the other fellows wants one - we will see if he follows through!

So is XM the 3/16ths model? Having held one of John's 1/4" jobs I can bet that one is plenty heavy.

Hi Wade

A person could get any desired thickness. You are right, it is hefty.

Hmmmmmmmmph. I see something wrong here. It seems as though that is a left handed model. Perhaps you got the wrong one or have you come out of the closet and are really proper handed?:D

I got the XD Tactical Bowie out yesterday for a little while - chopped all of the suckers off of the nearly dead redbud tree in my back yard and then made a fuzz stick -

Of course there was no damage to the edge, and I was able to slice "receipt" paper with the edge.

Even with such a stout knife, you can easily make fuzz sticks, as the larger size gives you more options to gain leverage.
