"Hard Use" Knives

Because things do not always go as planned, that is why I want a Busse - to use for the unexpected task that would break either the blade or handle of most other knives. Especially in an emergency situation, I would find it comforting to know I do not have to worry about breaking my knife. For me, the peace of mind is worth the extra cost.

Well said. After all, a plan is just a list of things that never happen.

There is a lot of truth in this post which if translated through to "knife availability" would make a great case for Busse producing, or having available to order, the Basic set of knives all the time. That way you have a set of knives from 3 inch blades to 9 or 11 inches at sensible money where you could look to buy "the set" and work out which size best fits your needs. Then you can always have a knife of this calibre with you.

Great description of a part of this addiction.

Let me add... my dad was a real DIY type, probably where i got it. He always told me, "Retro, never use a knife to pry, you'll break it." (ok, he didn't call me retro, but he really used to say this, alot, since i was always trying to pry something with my old Buck 110 - nails, sprockets, paint can lids... )

He never had a Busse.

Great thinking. When going through the design process you concentrate on the extreme perimeters. Hi and low temps. Limits for Gs and shock. Then you have to design in extra margin. Busse is designed with the extreme limits in mind and extra margin built in, that is why I like Busse kin knives and why I want my knives to work as tools when needed.
