Hard user EDC

I'm looking for a new EDC, something with a three to three and a half inch blade.
I will be using it for opening mail and packages, food preparation, carving sticks, et cetera.

Your thread title says "Hard user EDC." Is opening mail and packages, food preparation and carving sticks really considered hard use? I've easily handled any/all those tasks with a Case Sodbuster Jr. that I got for $14 on the 'bay.

Take out the food prep, and I'd be comfortable doing any of those other tasks with a Case peanut or my 84mm SAK Tourist.

Et cetera means and others, as in that's not all the things I will be using it for.
I will pretty much use it for anything except batoning, the tasks I stated are just things I do on a daily basis with my knifes.

I've been looking at the BenchMade 520, and 940 but have also considered others. I'm willing to spend up to about $130.
Thanks in advance guys.

Edit-I totally meant to say 940, as I already have a 930...

The Kulgera is a great knife. How does your 930 not already meet your needs?

I would suggest the Benchmade 520. I have this knife, and I have carried it everyday/everywhere for about 3 years. I beat the living $#!T out of it, and it has held up extremely well. It works well for any task you can throw at it. The only downside is that it can be a "pocket shredder." I also use the 615, which is also very good.

If we all only got knives that meet our needs, would this forum even exist? I bet that he is like most of us, his needs are met, but he is in the mood for something new.

maybe...that's just not me. when I find an EDC that fills the bill, I tend to stop actively looking for EDCs. for example, i carried my 710 day-in, day-out every day since the 710 was introduced. of course, i still bought knives, but never did I buy them with the intention for using them "for EDC". only recently did one of these non-EDC knives--the 930--end up becoming and obvious alternative to my 710. the blade shape and size of the 930 really grew on me and, after just two weeks in the pocket, my 710 was officially semi-retired. now, after two months of living w/ the Kulgera, the 710 seems bulky and heavy by comparison. so, i guess i'm biased, but the 930 just seems like "the" EDC knife :D

I completely agree its a wonderful knife, I'm just looking for something with a shorter blade.
