OK,

Without opening up the "my grinder is better than yours" debate, I'm just wondering if anybody has been using one of these for 6 months or more full time and how the aluminum castings seem to be wearing.

Also as a side question, how much, if any, of the critical assemblies on a burr king is aluminum, and have they really started making them again?

well, see the hardcore grinder is milled from aluminum, thick aluminum, not casted. so it sould be pretty sturdy, and very quiet. i'm using steel for my grinder, but that's purely for ease of welding, i see no problem with aluminum.

i think you miss under stood me, sorry i should have refrased it. the grinder i am making i'll finish in february prebably, see i'm low on knifemaking funds. but when i get it done i'll try and post it, along with a few blades.

The Burr Kings major componets are aluminum (appear to be cast) and damned near bullet proof. The only weak part of the machine is the 1hp motor(my wife smoked it!!) replaced it with a 2hp 240v. The rest of the machine has given no problems with over 5yrs. full time use.
