I made some custom bolts and nuts for pivots, fastening, and decorative purposes on some blades.
Should these be heat treated? If so, I assume they should be tempered to the toughest - vice hardest - state.
I'd be worried about the threads decarbing and needing to be scraped off.
Current bolts are W-1 steel, but might be using other steels in the future.
