hardening/tempering time line

Thanks for the insight. I'll take my toaster oven and wife's oven thermometer to the shop rather than bring my blade/s to the house for tempering. Thanks again.
 
Yeah I'll jump in to suggest the kitchen oven. What I do is get it in the oven initially while the heat treat oven cools down. I open the door of the kiln and place a fan pointing right at it to speed up the cooling process, and I'm able to get it back into the kiln after just a quick snap temper in the kitchen oven. Takes about an hour or so to cool the kiln back down, and I just leave it in the oven until then, and then do my normal temper cycles after that.
