Wow guys so i been researching informing myself looking around and just browsing through the web the forums and the knowledge you guys have given to me and im ready to make a higher end knife purchase. All ive had thus far is cheaper blades and im ready to step it up. Only problem is now idk what one to choose lol.

Zt 0350 satin blade.

benchmade rift

emerson cqc7b

I like them all, im not a fan of assisted but from what i can tell that can be taken out and im not so sure about the axis lock. I like the emerson but is the price justified?
Im looking for quality reliable blade to edc for a year. Got a bet going on with the family, all in good fun though one knife for 365 days.
Out of these what would you guys pick? Im also open to more suggestions since im not so familiar with higher end blades.

I'd suggest a Gayle Bradley, the sheer knife quality packed into that thing still blows me away, love mine

All three! Out of those three I would pick up the Rift....because I already own a 0350 :). Sorry the Emerson just doesn't personally do it for me. What about the ZT 0550? 0560?

What is it about the axis lock that you're not sure of?

All good choices, but when you say "higher end," what is your budget? All three that you picked are good choices. I'd also look at some of the higher end Spydercos like the Gayle Bradley. Love mine. If you like zt but don't like assisted, look at the 0550, 0560 and 0801.

idk just never had any first hand experience with it ya know? I guess the ease of use and practicality.

like 200.

I have a Rift and 0350.

Between the 2 I carry my 350 way more than the rift.

There is nothing wrong with my Rift, just leaves me kinda... Meh.

I will say that I do lean more towards the ZT side. I have an 0801 that is a joy to use.

I also had spyderco GB and it was a supurb knife. Unreal fit and finish, but in my hand just didn't do it for me so I returned it.

Get your hands on them first if you can.

Its real hard too here in communist south jersey there isnt much around to handle them. Im fascinated by emerson because of the history and just the very plain simple to the point design but have never so much as seen one in person.

If I had to carry one knife for a year it would be a Para 2. In fact, I almost did with my first Para 2. Out of your choices though, I would go with the 0350.

The axis lock is one of the strongest and easiest locks to use on the market. Benchmade is one hellava company and im a huge fan of their knives. I've handled a rift before but i dont own one. I do own a 940 though, which is like its baby brother. You can't go wrong with a benchmade.

Out of those three I would go with the Benchmade Rift. It functions just as well as the others and will be lighter than the ZT. I do not care for the looks on most Emersons as it is very dull for what you are paying for. The Rift looks great has a very smooth action and functions well. The axis lock is a great lock, it is very strong and easy to use.

Out of those three I'd go with the Rift(my current edc). It has the best blade shape out of all three and for me it rides in the pocket better.

Second choice would be 0350. It makes an excellent manual folder if you take the speedsafe out. The recurve can be difficult to sharpen for some people.

cqc 7 would be my last choice. The tanto is less utilitarian than the other blades and the handle was just too straight.

Check out some other Emersons though, like the horseman and roadhouse.

Out of those I'd say the Benchmade. ZT has good quality but their knives are too heavy imo for carry. Just overkill, but I'm pretty sure that's their intention. Benchmades tend to have great quality and pretty good ergos. Most carry fairly light. No experience with Emerson, but nothing they make really jumps out at me. In all honesty, I'm more partial to Spydercos. If your budget is $200, blow it on a Spyderco Domino.

I liked my Emerson CQC7 plain edge solid knife that would hold it's edge. It was stolen from my checked baggage and I have not replaced it yet but plan to soon.
