Hardtack - Survival food recipe

Back in my hardcore backpacking days we used to make a food called "Logan Bread" supposidly formulated by canadians for an ascent on Mt.Logan (Where ever that is.) It was dense and full of calories, both fat and sweet. The only down side was it give you the farts, but then it keeps you warm at night too.
I think it came out if "The Vegetarian Epicure" cookbook.
