Excellent display case! If somebody sold those online, they’d have a booming business. On another note... If I was in your position, I’d give my 11y/o his own basic folder and some introduction to safe handling/use practices, elementary sharpening and maybe introductory woodcarving (?) or something else corny like that. That display case with some knives in it will have unimaginable magnetic power over any and all kids. Way too much temptation displayed way too conspicuously and IMO more than enough to successfully tempt the best of all kids. Before anything unfortunate happens, I’d get proactive and introduce my kid into knife handling and maybe even keep his knife in the display case with mine. Just a personal thought, but--better to overdo the proactive approach than to have to deal with a kid who cut himself playing with a knife (and worse yet his furious mother).

He's pretty well versed and actually has a few knives of his own. He came with me to his first knife show this past winter and did great. He's done some rudimentary sharpening on the sharpmaker. You bring up a good point though. I'm more worried about his friends that come over than I am about him.
