Butch, I'd like to be second in line for the parer. I have one of your blue jeans utility kitchen knives now. The parer would match. Would you make another if sold?

Alright, reaaall newb question. The top knife...at 3/32 and only 6 1/4" it's still rock-stiff. Right? How thin do/would you have to go to get just a little flex? (not quite as much a rapala filet?)

Don't mean to completely hijack the thread. I'm just really diggin the top one and had some questions pop up.

some of my fishing stuff that i make for flex is around .040 at the spine
even my smaller full ground chef there has no flex to it and its 1/16 thick

by the way all these knives are shown sharpened if you look close you can see it just a little that will help to show just how this these blades are behind the edge (.010 inch)

edit to add the parer is shipped

Butch, i,m really looking forward to receiving and using this paring knife (which i think is one of the most useful kitchen tools), but what is "bluejeans burl" ? wood ?(what kind ?) and bluejeans = a combination of dyes ? roland

It's blue denim and epoxy pressed under high pressure to remove air-bubbles until the epoxy cures. It's the handyman's way of making micarta. Butch has taken homemade micarta to a new level recently making handles based on a Van Gogh painting (complete with a santoku blade should the owner turn out to be a Van Gogh wannabe  ).

thanks for "bluejeans" explanation. as Butch is using this on a kitchen knife, i assume it stands up very well to water and soap exposure ? roland

Roland, it's a phenolic like G-10 or Micarta. As long as there's complete penetration of the epoxy there shouldn't be any issues relating to water or soap exposure.

Butch, beautiful knives. I have friends that are chefs that are after me to make some knives for them to play with.
