Just as I was putting the finishing touches on the handle a small knot showed up, but this is such an exceptional piece of wood that I really hate to break it off and replace it. I will let it soak here for a while to see if someone can live with this natural defect but if it sits too long I will take a hammer and chisel to the handle an install a new one.

Forged from 52100 high carbon steel
Heat treated to Rc 60 with attention to a fine grain structure throughout the blade
Flat grind with a 400 grit belt finish
Stabilized and dyed curly maple handle
Overall length: 8 3/4 inches
Blade: 3 7/8 inches
Leather scabbard with a belt loop for a right hand carry

SOLD delivered within these United States

Gerry, I believe there are plenty of folks who recognize this sort of "natural defect" as a beauty mark and see how special this one is. Oddly, ever since I began making knives several years back, I never seem to have funds to buy another knife from you or anyone else. I gotta fix that! This maple and your shaping of it just plain call out to be held in a most delightful way.
