[for those not following my adventures elsewhere...]

nothing but the best of the lot for now...

the critters - start here:

frog, more mature monarch larva (just the one? what happened to the OTHERS *cry*), some very shy looking ant/beetle THING. whoa :)

the mushrooms - start here:

looks like some pretty amanitas (yellow)?, boletes (red/brown thick things with pores)?, puff balls (white centers usually edible (one of the "sure" ones) smell good anyway - no i don't eat them), some spiffy cup shapes things, and a massive colony of YELLOW stubby guys (kinda bolete like...), and sulphur shelf (oyster shaped) - the later shots of these - look close - have termites in the stems. this is just off the cuff, i'll look up the names, or try to later, and go back and spore print a few again. if any of thse look "odd", it's the lighting and the fact it's REALLY late at nite (before sunrise) and i used two different kinds of LED lamps as well as flash - though in some cases no flash. the indian pipe especially - whoa :) pink? neat.

it's the shrub that flowers like a bit and smells like honeysuckle (invasive), and has produced some way cool berries, one at night with fake light, and the other today during the sun:

and my first harrowing hewing adventure... have axes, will travel. ended up having to "hurry" a bit there towards the end, as the THUNDER was amazing and coming closer and closer. whoa. nelly. i decided to take my work WITH ME :) heh, so out comes the saw and the 31.5 pound piece of new timber comes with ME. the backpack weighed 26 pounds loaded. yar. that's a bit extra to walk with :) exercise! start here:

at the end there, you'll see my new baby villager chitlangi. while baby for a chit, it's a full sized knife. wow. i LIKE it a lot. differentially tempered 5160 for $60 shipped? hah :)

Nice! Is that a Becker patrol machete there? I _really_ like the villager baby chit. I snagged one of the first ones in horn, 12" and 9 oz. I believe, but it is the standard brass, shiny horn and ironically is not nearly so sharp looking. That one looks a bit bigger?
(Ah, found it. The one from Ram on 9/6? Nice snag. My 9 oz. one is a bit light for a 12" blade.)

Finally, I recognize the Fiskars, great axes, but what are the other axes on the left? GB's?

Thanks for sharing.

A striking picture of the Amanita .
Its good to see someone with varied interests . They do seem to have a common goal which is enjoyment of the great outdoors .
